Cheers to the first full moon of 2020 and the decade! This full moon releasing ritual is one The Wolf In Me has practiced many times. Here’s a few facts about this Full Wolf Moon
Let’s be honest, globally, 2020 is off to a challenging start. Combined with the wrap up of the holiday season and most of us trying to navigate our ways back into our daily routines, we could all probably use a ME moment. I know I can! This powerful, wolf-moon is a beautiful time to, express gratitude and release all that is no longer serving us. When we take time for ourselves and clear space, we then vibrate higher, which in turn benefits everyone:) First thing I'm releasing, all feelings which are not based in love. Happy full wolf moon loves - let's vibrate higher!
GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES
PREPARE YOUR SPACE & MAKE IT SACRED
Each step of your ritual should be done with intention - from preparation to final thanks. Allow your senses and breath to take the lead and give your thoughts permission to take a back seat.
Choose your music (if applicable) Music should only be played while preparing your ritual space and supplies. Choose tunes which help you ground and connect. Below you will find a few of The Wolf In Me’s favorites.
Light your candle(s) You will need at least one of your favorite candles but feel free to light as many candles as your like. Place your candles close to the area where you will be sitting. Make sure to have one candle super handy, as you will need it for your ritual. Remember to make each part sacred. When lighting your candle, take a moment to observe - watch the flame flicker. Close your eyes and breathe in a few times to savor your candle’s aroma. The Wolf In Me's candle choice for moon rituals are listed below.
Once your candles are lit and placed, you’ve cleared the energy of your space and gathered all of your supplies take one last moment to hydrate (WATER). For a little extra dose of love - prepare a pitcher of mint/cucumber water the night before.) Turn off your music (if applicable) now settle in, get cozy and allow your journey to begin.
GROUND & SETTLE (EARTH)
Ideally you want to be sitting on the floor or ground (if outside) this is your connection to EARTH. Sitting pillows are suggested for extra coziness. Sit comfortably with legs crossed or kneeling with a straight & elongated spine.
NOTE - If meditation is new to you or seems impossible that is ok. It took me several months to finally “feel” the power of my breath. If meditation is calling you - keep practicing and learning. I promise you will not regret it.
5 regular breaths – Close your eyes, breathe in, feel the inhale through your nostrils, down your throat, through your chest and all the way down to your tummy. Allow your tummy to fill completely then exhale slowly through your mouth. When first starting, thoughts will pop-up, probably often - this is normal and OK:) Just keep welcoming each thought BUT on your exhales, wave goodbye and release them. Keep returning to your breath and the sensations you feel throughout your body while breathing.
5 deep breaths – Place your right hand over your heart, left hand on your tummy. On each inhale – think or speak “I am grateful” on each exhale think or speak “I am releasing” If you start to feel warm and tingly, not to worry…that’s your body connecting with soul and thanking you for ALL of the extra oxygen!
5-10 Alternate Nostril Breaths

5 regular breaths - return to normal inhales and exhales with your eyes still closed. Notice each inhale and exhale, continue to welcome & release any thoughts. Now it’s time to revisit your gratitude inhales.
Take your smaller pieces of paper and write out all which you desire to release. Remember to be in the moment, keep breathing and feeling. Also, if releasing for you includes - crying, singing or moving – DO IT, LET GO - BE FREE. Do whatever your body needs to fully purge. If using Copal, this is a good time to relight your coals and add more copal, this will help give the moment an extra sprinkle of magic 😊
Take your favorite lit candle and one by one light the corner of each paper (PLEASE BE CAREFUL – have your 2nd glass of water handy, just in case). As the paper lights, drop each paper in to your bowl and watch it transform from solid to ash. For those using a bowl with water - drop the burning paper into the water, visualize the water cleansing all you wish to release. As each paper is being transformed/cleansed - breath, visualize and BELIEVE all that is no longer serving you is now released.
Once the burning is complete, return to your preferred seated position. Hands resting on each knee, eyes closed and with a relaxed jaw & face take 5 intentional inhales and exhales.
To close your ritual bring hands either to prayer position against your chest or place right hand over heart and left hand on your lower tummy. Give thanks, smile, you just gifted yourself with space & a little magica (#wolf). Slowly open your eyes, your full-moon ritual is now complete. Lastly, give yourself a big hug because guess what, you just tapped into YOUR wild:)
If your schedule allows, prepare your favorite tea, draw a bath and linger in the warmth of your ritual… At the very least hydrate and take it slow for the rest of the evening. Sending blessings of love this full moon & beyond
